Well, don't move just yet. If we thought last week's list of the most romantic cities in America, according to their Amazon purchases, was based on shaky logic, let's take a look at this list of the most heartbreak in the United States.
The criteria? First, how long marriages typically last in the area. OK, that one seems fair enough. Second, how many dating services are in the area, as in, where there's a high demand for dating, there's heartbreak. Hmm. Dating isn't really a sign that you're heartbroken. Some people even consider it—gasp!—fun. Did one very snotty married person decide that everyone who dates is sad and pathetic? Harrumph.
Getting skeptical yet? The last two factors were general health (physical and emotional) and…rates of gonorrhea. Now, gonorrhea seems unpleasant, no doubt, but I don't know that it's a sure sign of heartbreak.
At any rate, here are the cities:
- Chicago
- Miami
- New York
- Riverside, Calif.
- Houston
- Baltimore
- Dallas
- Los Angeles
- Phoenix
- San Diego
Hmm. What are your thoughts on these heartbreak factors? Do you live in one of these sad, sad cities? It is really so bad?
