People's Choice Awards: The Best (And One Annoying Worst) Moments

Friends, I must admit was not super amped about tuning into the People's Choice Awards tonight because it meant I had to miss Stevie Nicks' big guest-star appearance on American Horror Story: Coven. She is my absolute idol, so this was NOT something I took lightly. Luckily, DVR was invented for a reason, so I will forgo sleep to see Stevie and her many scarves at a later time. And you know what? I'm glad my glass of white wine and I tuned in to watch the PCAs because it was chock-full of best moments—and, yes, one annoying, not-best thing too. But let's start with the good stuff:
I liked Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings as hosts! Their pre-taped 2 Broke Girls spoof opening with stars "ordering" their awards was funny, and I liked how their friendship chemistry played off each other. Overall, I thought it worked better than Kaley Cuoco's slightly awkward hosting turn last year (No offense, Kaley!!!).

The nice thing about the People's Choice Awards is that they get mega stars to show up—and any time you have a large number of celebrities gathered in one room, you're guaranteed at least some interesting things to happen. There were fun moments like the girly friendship win when Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy accepted an award for The Heat together, make-me-cry moments like when Jennifer Hudson accepted her humanitarian award (seriously, how amazing was she?!), and cute-guy moments like when Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, and Zac Efron all joked about Zac never having an awkward date with a girl.
Speaking of cute-guy moments: Justin Timberlake was looking sexy as usual tonight and the audience loved his quip about learning that putting dishes in the dishwasher is the secret to a happy marriage. It is, JT, it is.

My favorite moment, by far, was everything surrounding the win for Favorite On Screen Chemistry. First, Shemar Moore awkwardly flirted with recently-separated Malin Akerman, then it was announced that the win went to ex-couple (but still on-screen couple) Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, and Malin totally mispronounced Somerhalder's name (I assume because she was flustered?). Entertaining stuff. But Ian and Nina played off their breakup well with a shrug and an "At least it's not awkward..."—and they ended their speech with a sweet kiss. Their chemistry was so undeniable, I totally understand why they won/immediately wanted them to get back together.

Finally, not to end on a sour note, but I mentioned this last year, and I will say it again: I am NOT a fan of the fact that the celebrities know the winners of the PCAs in advance. It kills the buzz that comes from a shocked winner having to come up with an acceptance speech on the fly—and it's way too easy to predict who won based on the stars in attendance. One example: Drew Barrymore (who, by the way, looked stunning!) presented the Favorite Comedic Movie Actor. Guess who won? Adam Sandler. A fun moment, but still—who didn't see that coming a mile away? Just saying: It takes some of the credibility and excitement away, and I thought those were the reasons why we watch awards shows. #RantOver
What did you think? Tell me your best and worst moments of the night!
