Beyoncé can work a red carpet party dress
like a boss—no QUEEN—and she just kills it like no other onstage. Case
in point, her sexy, steamy, earth-shattering opening performance at the Grammy Awards
last night. Oh, and since she didn't get to walk the red carpet before
the show—you know, sound check and all—here's a shot of the star in her
sheer, peekaboo Michael Costello gown and Lorraine Schwartz bling that
she donned post-performance.
You're welcome. So clearly we need to crown Queen Bey with the Glamour Style Icon of the Week and—since we're still on a Grammys high—celebrate with her most killer onstage looks.
I couldn't help but start off with this gem: Bey and her glistening, super-toned abs rockin' what looks to be a bedazzled bra and banana-skirted ensemble at the Fashion Rocks concert in 2006. She took the stage with future hubby Jay-Z.
In 2010, she was nominated for nine Grammys—eventually to take six statuettes home with her. She also killed onstage in this stunning geometric leather dress by Atelier Versace.
In May of 2011, she sizzled at the Billboard Music Awards and proved who in fact runs the world in this hot, hot, hot chain-mail peekaboo onesie.
During the summer, Beyoncé jetted over to England to grace the Glastonbury music festival stage in gold sequined Alexandre Vauthier (but, alas, not haute couture, right Rita Ora?).
Finally at the VMAs that year, Mrs. Carter put those baby rumors to rest by finally revealing her little bump hidden by a sequined tuxedo jacket—after a high-energy, mic-dropping performance of "Love on Top." Aw...
And who could forget her mind-blowing Super Bowl 2013 performance (and the brief Destiny's Child reunion)? Of course, Beyoncé killed it once again in a laser-cut piece by Rubin Singer.
I feel like 2013 was really her year of top-notch concert outfits. Like this silvery fringed two-piece custom set by Ralph & Russo for her performance opening Ovation Hall in Atlantic City.
Last year, Beyoncé also somehow found the time to secretly record a visual album full of 14 songs and 17 videos—all in the midst of her Mrs. Carter tour performances. She had a bevy of designers creating custom costumes for her, including this beautifully ornate white leotard by Timothy White.
Pucci creative designer Peter Dundas created eight stunning pieces for the tour, including this sassy fringed leopard-print minidress.
And BOOM. Beyoncé did not disappoint during her opening number at the Grammys—looking smoking hot in a Nichole de Carle harness-y bodysuit, Saint Laurent sparkle tights, and Stuart Weitzman heels. No wonder Jay-Z couldn't keep his hands to himself (joking, joking).
