Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning Channel Their Maleficent Characters in Real Life

Have you seen the trailer for the upcoming Maleficent yet? It looks absolutely terrifying in the most fantastic way possible. And last night at a reception at Kensington Palace, the two stars of the movie seemed to channel their on-screen characters in the chicest way possible. Since the party was celebrating the sure-to-be mind-blowing costumes from the movie, maybe dressing in theme was intentional? Let's take a look.

Elle Fanning looked positively Princess Aurora-like in a beautiful beaded ball gown from the Georges Hobeika fall 2013 couture collection. Her floral crown completed her majestically angelic look.

Angelina Jolie stunningly channeled her on-screen title character, Maleficent, you know, the fairy tale "Mistress of All Evil" who has it out for the young princess after not scoring an invite to the christening. (Jeez, it's not like the baby princess put the guest list together, but whatever, Brothers Grimm.) Angelina looked intimidatingly gorgeous in a custom black Atelier Versace gown glittering with countless Swarovski crystals.

Spotted: Ryan Gosling Wearing the Most Adorable Sign of His Relationship with Eva Mendes

There were unconfirmed rumbling a while back that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were on the rocks, but since then the two have kept a low profile. But last night, Ryan stepped out at a premiere wearing a fairly clearly symbol of his relationship with Eva that I bet will make all you pet lovers out there swoon.

I'm starting to think there's an ongoing trend of men (at least in Hollywood) embracing wearable symbols of their relationship status. Of course, there's always been the often ill-advised tradition of celebrities getting tattoos for their lover, which is basically a sign that predicts imminent demise of the relationship with 99 percent accuracy. But jewelry is a sweet (and removable) way for a man to broadcast his devotion, so why sabe it only for marriage and wedding bands? Remember Johnny Depp's man-gagement ring? And Chris Hemsworth has been spotted in a necklace with wife Elsa Pataky's name and Phone number. Awww.
of course, it's not that surprising that fashion risk-takers ("risk-takers"  is a polite way to describe how I feel about the Depp style) like Jonny and Ryan are comfortable wearing nontraditional accessories. I'm not quite so sure a regular dude would feel the same way, but if you'd like your guy to wear a bit of his heart on his sleeve finger/or around his neck, I'd bet the dog-tag style necklace would go over better with most dudes than a diamond ring. Men just don't appreciate sparkle the way we do.

Victoria Beckham Shows Us Her Casual, Downtown-Cool Style (We Like!)

Well, we already know that Victoria Beckham can perfectly nail white-tie Met Gala formal (right?). So it's a no-brainer that she also flawlessly pulls off casual, downtown-cool too.

Our Style Icon and all-around fashion crush was out and about in New York City yesterday in a casual- for-her outfit--a short-sleeve Celine sweater from the spring 2014 collection and skinny jeans. Posh kept it, well, posh by counterbalancing a luxe, patterned knit with rugged, distressed bottoms and accessorizing with super-sophisticated Azzedine Alaia booties and her self-designed handbag (carried as a clutch, because why not?). Lesson learned: Done right, jeans and a sweater can be just as chic as a dress.

Monica Lewinsky is Back, Speaks Out About Online Bullying

 I'm going to give it to you straight: I've always felt a little bit sorry for Monica Lewinsky. She's paid a heavy price for doing something really stupid when she was 21 years old. I've done some pretty stupid things as well--granted, not with the married leader of the free world, but still--and I think we all can sympathize (at least a little) with the fact that this woman has had to live with the whole world knowing about a bad
 decision she made as an intern.

After years of silence, Lewinsky is speaking out about her affair with President Clinton in a self-penned piece fro Vanity Fair, saying, "I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened."
Short refresher: Lewinsky, a White House intern and later an employee at the Office of Legislative Affairs and the pentagon, had a brief affair with the President. She confessed detaiuls of the affair to her colleague Linda Tripp, who began taping their conversations and later took them public, resulting in the impeachment of  the President by the House of Representatives for lying under oath. (The Senate later acquitted him.)
While the Vanity Fair piece isn't out until May 8th, the magazine released a few excerpts online, with Lewinsky claiming she is coming out with her story now because she wants to use her story to combat online bullying. Lewinsky told Vanity FAir that "thanks to the Drudge Report, I was also possibly the first person whose global humiliation and harassment and to start speaking on this topic in public forums," specifically referencing Tyler Clementi, a freshman at Rutgers who in 2010, took his own life after a webcam secretly captured and streamed video of him kissing a man. Says Vanity Fair, "Lewinsky writes that following Clementi's tragedy 'my own suffering took on a different meaning. Perhaps by sharing my story, I reasoned, I might be able to help others in their darkest moments of humiliation. t=The question became: How do I find and give a purpose to my past?'

Boko Haram Threatens to Sell 200+ Kidnapped Nigerian Schoolgirls. Here's How You Can Help Bring Them Home.

On Friday, we were talking about the horrific kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls--and the fight to get them home safely. Over the weekend, Boko Haram, the Islamist terrorist group that was suspected of taking the girls from their dorms in the middle of the night, officially claimed responsibility. According to CNN, the group released a video obtained by Agence France-Presse in which a man identifying himself as Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau threatened to sell the girls. "I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah...There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell. I will sell women. I sell women," he said, per CNN's translation. 

Last week, a social media campaign using # BringBackOurGirls caught on, putting pressure on world leaders to help locate the missing girls and return them safely to their families. On Sudnay, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan finally broke his silence on the issue at a press conference, vowing that "wherever these girls are, we will get them out." In a press release, Nigeria's Minister of Information stated: "Every information relayed to security agencies has so far been investigated, including the search of all places suspected as a possible hide-away of the kidnapped girls. The police, backed up by the military and DSS, have combed and are still combing all reported places that the girls might have been taken to." The kidnapping reportedly took place in mid-April, meaning that the girls have been missing for three weeks. During that time, there were reports that they were already being sold as child brides.

Secretary of Stae John Kerry announced on Saturday that the US will assist Nigeria in its efforts to brig the girls home. (It's currently estimated that 250 girls are still missing.) While Kerry wasn't specific in how the US will step in to help, he did say that "We will do everything possible to support the Nigerian government to return these young women to their homes and hold the perpetrators to justice," according to The Washington Post.

So what can you do to help? For starters, show your support for finding the missing girls (and further pressure world leaders to take action) by tweeting #BringBackOurGirls and following the hashtag on Twitter. You can also "like" the Bring Back Our Girls page on facebook. Then tomorrow, May 6, at noon, Girl Rising and Amy Poehler's Smart Girls initiative are hosting a "call to Action" Google Hangout. Your Spring Must-Reads List: 3 Books We're Reading Now

The task of choosing the next book to read can be daunting--especially when your Goodreads roster is growing substantially longer than your bucket list (and they slowly morph into the same thing...). In the Glamour office, we're always chirping about the stories we can't put down, not to mention which books will turn into million-dollar motion pictures first. These three novels have encouraged many opinionated conversations around here recently and deserve a recommendation for you to snuggle up with and banter about with your girlfriends--I promise you'll have something to say about each.

Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
"I need you to know how hard it is for me sometimes." Mom had her hand on mine. 
"What's hard?"
"The banality of life," she said. "But it won't keep me from taking you to the South Pole."

Recommended to me by Cindi Leive, Where'd You Go, Bernadette is a quirky portrayal of a family trying to make the best of the hand they've been dealt--which is not alwaysso simple. Told alternatively through both the eyes of daughter Bee and email exchanges of overlapping story lines, The book reads like puzzle pieces to a mystery that you can't quite fit together and stands alone in its unique style. Each character is complex and genuine in a kooky way, and you'll find yourself picking sides to fights you wish you could intervene. All in all a lovely authentic story, my one qualm would be that the ending tied up a bit too neatly.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
"And there was something festoive and happy about the two of us, hurrying up the steps beneath the flimsy candy-striped umbrella, quick quick, for all the world as if we were escaping something terrible instead of running right into it."

You've probably heard about it by now, and this book is more than worthy of its recent Pulitzer Prize and of all its 770 pages (I'm still mourning that it ever ended). The most spectacular thing about The Goldfinch is Tartt's poignant writing and ability to create the story of a life so fascinating and emotional, it will bring you to tears. (It's literally the only book I've ever shamelessly sobbed with.) I had the fortune of seeing the book's namesake painting at the Frick Museum while it was traveling through New York with other Dutch masterpieces, which even further magnigied its magic--magic sometimes reminiscent to me of J.K Rowling's.
This is one that will stay in your heart forever and ever.

The Circle by Dave Eggers
"'A circle is the strongest shape in the universe. Nothing can beat it, nothing can improve upon it, 
nothing can be more perfect. And that's what we want to be: perfect. So any information that eludes us, anything that's not accessible, prevents us from being perfect. So any information that eludes us, anything that's not accessible, prevents us from being perfect. You see?'"

A modern-day 1984, The circle is a timely depiction of our culture's obsession with social media and addiction to real-time knowledge. Almost satirical in its claims of "SECRETS ARE LIES, PRIVACY IS THEFT," Dave Eggers does a great job of hitting just a little too close to home, with a plot laced by mysterious twists and character struggles. The story takes place in the Google-y company compound of The Circle, where every thought is required to be transparent and eveny action recorded. It is certainly worthy of a recommendation because of the provoking questions, even fear that it raises about our society. Just how far is too far?

Kerry Washington Gave Birth to a Baby Girl (and She Has the Cutest Name!)

I feel like I've been waiting forever for this moment: Kerry Washington has given birth to a baby girl, TMZ and People confirm. (Kerry's rep didn't comment on the news, but her due date was for a few weeks ago, according to Us Weekly.)

And in true Olivia Pope fashion, Kerry reportedly gave birth TWO WEEKS AGO--but it's been kept under the radar until now.
The baby's name is reportedly Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha, which is the cutest name I've heard in a while.
(No offense, Drew Barrymore and Olivia Wilde--your babies' names are cute too!)

Behind the Scenes at the iHeartRadio Music Awards With Jared Leto, HIlary Duff, and Others!

Awards show red carpets can be a tricky thing. Some will be amazing (the Emmys, the Golden Globes), and others, well, not so much (but we won't name names....). By now, I've covered enough of them to know which ones will bring out the A-list stars you guys want to read about and which ones don't. But when it's a brand-new show? Well, all bets are off. So, like many of you who watched last night's iHeartRadio Music Awards, I had no idea what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised. Here's what went on behind the scenes.

Hilary Duff joked that it was "an awesome day to wear black velvet" as the temps climbed to 98degrees in downtown Los Angeles. "I'm dying here!" she confided to us. "But it was the first dress I put on, and I was like, Wow, this is different for me! It's short, but it was perfect."

Presenter Jason Ritter was one of the first to hit the carpet, and he said he'd love to return to Parenthood next season (should it get picked up). "I think it will," he confided in me (for the record, I do too). "I just love it there. Dax Shephard is hysterical, and the way his mind works is pretty astounding. And I just love Lauren [Graham] and Mae [Whitman]."
 About a Boy's "boy", Benjamin Stockham, 13, was rocking a very hipster look on the carpet and said he'd love to cross over to Jason Katims' Parenthood next season (Katims produces/writes About a Boy as well) since Dax Shepard and David Walton have already done it. Speaking of costar David Walton, Stockham said he's not sure if he'd be up for the task of babysitting Walton's young children. "That's an interesting question. I like it. I'd probably give them a football field's worth of sugar and play video games."

 Nashville's Sam Palladio flew into L.A. yesterday and obviously didn't expect such warm weather since he showed up in dark jeans and a leather jacket. "That was smart of me!" he joked. Palladio was recently in Chicago, where he (along with much of the rest of the cast) paid a visit to ABC7's Windy City Live (which I cohosted the week before). "The crowds were fantastic, and ti was the first time we felt like rock stars.
Usually we do it just on TV and the audiences are paid to be there and scream, so this was pretty cool."
As for what's coming up on the May 14 season finale of Nashville? "There's going to be some old flames reunited. Maybe we can say that the Gunnar and Scarlett partnership that everybody loves isn,t quite dead yet. There's going to be a couple of 'gasp' moments too." I'm so there.
 Austin Mahone was refreshingly candid when I asked him the song that he gets most excited to hear on the radio," the adorable star shared.
Mya, looking stunning in Bariano, said that even though we've been inundated with all sorts of new awards shows lately, this one was a bit more special. "It celebrates radio, and it's a direct connect for the fans to their favorite artists. Plus, they have categories, like Instagram, which no other awards show has."

Cheryl Burke looked incredible in a flirty design that her stylist picked out "because I'm not that girly girl. Shopping gives me anxiety," she laughed. The Dancing With the Stars pro turns 30 on Saturday and is planning an incredible "crazy bash with the entire cast" plus other celeb pals like Mel B. By the way, I had an interesting conversation with Burke about on-set DWTS romances (ahem, Maks and Meryl). That convo will be coming Monday night, so stay tuned!

Baby Daddy's Chelsea Kane chose a fun ASOS ensemble that complemented her pink hair. "It comes from a leave-in conditioner actually! It's like a shooting star of fun. I got it in Canada, and it's just so fun. It will actually wash right out. Guys think I'm crazier now, so I've been getting some interesting propositions," she admitted.

Oscar winner and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto rocked a turquoise sports jacket in the unseasonably warm weather. When asked about his new album, he said that "it puts us on a different party and has been a bit of a breakthrough for us."

Other stars spotted on the red carpet: Ashley Greene, Mel B, Linda Perry, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Karina Smirnoff, The Bachelor's Kiptyn Lcke and Jef Holm (yes, that sighting confused me), Billy Ray Cyrus, and others.

Weekend Beauty Inspiration From Hilary Duff

 Hilary Duff is the perfect example of what I'd like to look like on weekends. She's sporting a nice, bouncy topknot, orange lips, groomed eyebrows, and long eyelashes. Low-maintenance and cute!

Makeup artist Adam Breuchaud did Duff's makeup for the iHeartRadio music awards yesterday, and I got the lowdown on what he used.
"We decided on a clean, fresh look with a bold spring color on the lips. I applied two coats of L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara and added a few individual lashes for depth. Then I sculpted her cheeks using the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder No.40 as a contour. To create her bright orange lip, I first lined the lips with Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Orange Intense. Then, straight from the bullet, I applied MAC Lipstick in Morange for a more pigmented look."
As for her hair, Suave Professional Celebrity Stylist Marcus Francis was the master behind it. "She wore this vintage LBD that had a strong yet beautiful silhouette that  I wanted to show off with a distraction of cascading blonde hair. We both agreed that a messy, oversized, topknot would give it that ethereal, bad-ass look for the red carpet," he says.

The step-by-step:
1. On towel-dried hair, spray on a volumizer like  Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Boost spray at the roots, then apply a mousse like Suave Professionals Natural Infusions Leave-In Foam with Seaweed from mid-shaft to end.

2. Secure dry hair in a high ponytail with an elastic at the top of the crown.

3. Tease medium sections of hair from the ponytail to create a fullness for the oversized knot. Spray each section with a light hairspray.

4. Twist the hair and wrap it around the ponytail base. Use several large hair poins to lock the knot in place.

5. Twirl a makeup brush in small circles around the hairline to bring out flyaways for a young and effortless look. Done!

Now I know exactly which hair and makeup items to grab on my way home from work today! Do you like her look as much as I do?

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Are Engaged, Sources Confirm

Is George Clooney, posterchild for bachelorhood, considering marriage?
According to People.com, Clooney and his girlfriend, British attorney Amal alamuddin,were spotted leaving Nobu on Thursday night when Alamuddin allegedly flashed some serious bling on THAT finger and now engagement rumors are flying. Per People.com, sources say the two were spotted celebrating their engagement on Wednesday night, where witnessed reportedly saw Alamuddin's "huge ring". Clooney, who is divorced, has been notoriously vocal about never marrying again so if the engagement rumors are true, it would be quite the shocker.


Are pgs flying? Has hell frozen over? I NEVER thought I'd type these words, but sources have confirmed to both Us Weekly and People that George Clooney is engaged to Amal Alamuddin.
"George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem. I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on beingtogether forever," a source told People.
Us is reporting that "the twosome were spotted dining together at Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood--and, according to one onlooker 'they were toasting the engagement'. The infamous Hollywood bachelor even told a fellow diner that they were engaged, the witness claims."
